Nestled in the historically rich town of Bidyapur, Surkhet, Panchapuri Museum has stood as a guardian of Karnali heritage since its founding in 1992. Over the past three decades, the museum has grown from a small community initiative into one of western Nepal's most important cultural institutions.
Five Wings of Discovery
The museum is organized into five dedicated wings, each telling a different chapter of the Karnali story:
- Archaeology Wing — Ancient artifacts from Khas and Malla civilizations
- Traditional Art Wing — Indigenous paintings, sculptures, and crafts
- Numismatics Wing — Historical coins from various Nepali dynasties
- Natural History Wing — Biodiversity specimens from the Karnali region
- Manuscripts Wing — Rare historical documents and palm-leaf manuscripts
Plan Your Visit
The museum is open Sunday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Entry is NPR 50 for Nepali citizens and NPR 200 for foreign visitors. Guided tours are available every hour from the main gate.
